As an Atheist, I've been told by christians on You-tube that I cannot possibly fully appreciate this sort of music, but somehow I do.
Maybe it has domething to do with the fact that Berlioz himself, like many other composers of great religious works, was also an atheist.
An appreciation of, or the ability to write, great music comes from within, not from some external source. To say otherwise reduces the talent of the composer to that of a mere scribe.

I am a Chorister in 12th night Christ Lutheran Church Allentown Pa and we use this song as the Saints and wisemen leave the stable and it is just the Holy Family at the Crib. If you are ever planning on visiting the Lehigh Valley during the week of Epiphany try to get tix.

Heard this piece in 1988 twice, and not again until now. It has haunted me since then. What a magnificent piece of worship.

Undoubtedly my favourite piece of Christmas music. I previously listened to the Munch recording, it wasn't bad but oh my goodness the King's Choir is just unbeatable. Thank you for the upload.
Simply the best choral work ever, sung by one of the best choirs ever; it is rare to get any better than this. Thank you.
