Hubbard Street receives coveted Joyce Award to support the development of a new work by African American choreographer Alonzo King, which will be his first piece on the Chicago stage in more than a decade. This unique collaboration will bring the dancers of LINES Ballet (Alonzo King, Artistic Director) and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (Glenn Edgerton, Artistic Director) together for the joint-company premiere in 2012. This project is a multi-year artistic collaboration to develop new choreography to further diversify the repertoire and audience of Hubbard Street, and enhance the professional development of both company's dancers. Read the full press release at hubbardstreetdance.com and don't miss the chance to see Hubbard Street Dance Chicago perform Alonzo King's acclaimed work "Following the Subtle Current Upstream" during the 2011 Summer Series, May 19-22, at the Harris Theater in Chicago's Millennium Park. Tickets are on sale now at 312-850-9744 or hubbardstreetdance.com.
