I have met James numerous times at the annual Generations in Jazz Festival in Mount Gambier, South Australia and I have found that he is not only one of the best musicans in the world but he is also a very generous and helpful person.

Holy crap! If you play, you know how amazing this is. The differences in embouchure adjustment , this is about as extreme a challenge for a brass player I've seen, except for possibly using a tuba instead of a trombone. Pedal tones on 'bone w/multiphonics and the highest register on trumpet. I repeat, holy crap!

@antiemo938726 That's a pretty idiotic statement. He really is that good, but being a bit of a showman, he does some of this sort of thing. The man can blow with the rest of them -- and that includes Freddie Hubbard.

There was Albert Mangelsdorf in Germany who invented those trombone notes in the 50s

Freddie Hubbard has had some not-so-great moments in his career. Listen to some other recordings of James and you'll see that he is a very good trumpet player, although not to everyone's liking. You don't get to play with Wynton, Jon Faddis and Arturo if you're crap.
