Bravaaa, amazing...Its really a miracle- in Oct. she'd sung Tosca.later Kundry and many Aidas and Tristan earlier in the year. unbelievible

She'd make anything sound so easy...

What a wonderful recording. It is very interesting to hear how Callas' singing af this aria was more spontaneous-sounding than when she recorded the complete opera four years later, not to mention the impressive cadenza at the end. This difference is probably due to the slight deterioration that was already evident in 1954. But the 1950 version is Rossini singing on a truly grand scale.

W O W!!! The cadenza in the end is superb and the last E flat is the best i've ever heard from Callas-or anyone else!!!

Don't pay any attention to Ardoin. He really was not a good friend to Callas and backstabbed her in the end by spreading a lot of gossip. His book is filled with inaccuracies and outdated information, such as this and other recently discovered media of her performances.

Actually is afantastic top high E flat.
Sempre divina, Callas :D

This is wonderful to have, a great discovery and thank you so much for posting. Her cadenza is beautiful if a little decadent for Callas, with a fantastic top D(?) to finish. But the aria is second-rate Rossini compared to "Nacqui all'affanno" and "Una voce poco fa".

VIVA VIVA VIVA CALLAS!!!
maybe not the best comment, but these words are truly from the heart.
