In August 2008, we ascended and descended Mt. Washington in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, NH.
The first day we took the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, climbing 2,500 feet in 3.1 miles to reach the Lake of the Clouds hut. We spent a cold night at the hut and had dinner and breakfast.
The next day was much warmer. We hiked another 1.4 miles and 1,200 ft elevation to the summit. After a quick break we descended by the Jewell Trail.
Mt. Washington is famous for having the highest recorded windspeed ever on earth.

"Barely escaped with your lives?" Say what? What did we miss? Was the hut about 1/2 up? Do they allow camping near the hut? Looks like fun! Thanks!

Ohh. When I saw the route you guys were taking I thought you were ending at the Lake of clouds house..My mistake. I've driven up this mountain a few times since I live on the Ma/Nh boarder which is fairly close( 2:15 drive)..I'm planning on climbing and hopefully camping out around half way up. Nice climb, and again myerror on the climb.
