Hosted by the Victoria Racing Club and the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, the Homecoming of the Emirates Melbourne Cup Trophy celebrated the return of the people's Cup following its 30-destination, globetrotting community tour of Australia, New Zealand, China, Ireland and Singapore.
Special guests on the evening included the Premier of Victoria, the Hon. Ted Baillieu MLA, who made a retrospective Melbourne Cup presentation to the family of the 1924 Melbourne Cup-winning jockey, Perry Brown.
The event was attended by racing and fashion royalty, including fourth generation member of the Cummings training dynasty, the grandson and stable foreman of the Cups King, Mr James Cummings; world renowned milliner and VRC International Style Ambassador, Mr Philip Treacy; Miss Universe Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs; and the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassadors.
