Taken from the 2003 album Slow Motion Daydream

Lyrics:
Yes I hate the way I feel and it makes no sense
Five months gone and all I got
Pretty pink flowers on my chain link fence
I don't like what it means
Cause I know there's more to come
I can't go home without
Chrysanthemum

I walk around lost and I don't know why
I don't see the faces or the places I should recognize
It's like that dream where it feels like home but it don't look right
Yes I will look everywhere tonight
I will not stop till I make things right
And I can't go home till I see the sun
I can't go home without
Chrysanthemum
No I can't go home without
Chrysanthemum

  • This song is way too short. :( It's too pretty to be under 2 minutes.

  • @DIsForLotsOfThings

    I always thought so too.

  • Sometimes you listen to a song and find yourself wondering what the writer was thinking at the time the lyrics were written...

  • @jargonburn Chrysanthemum is about the disappearances/murders of Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis from the Portland, Oregon area in 2002. The two girls were close in age to Art's daughter (they were 13 and 14, and his daughter was 10). The two girls lived about 20 miles away from where Art lives. He's said in interviews that the song is him putting himself in the shoes of the missing girls' parents.

  • One of the songs I want played at my funeral when it's my time to go

  • @writtendarkness Wow! I didn't know that. I do remember that time. I lived about two miles away. The song has a lot more meaning to me, now. Thanks.
