The Association of the Oldest Inhabitants of the District of Columbia (founded in 1865) celebrates the 90th anniversary of the dedication of the District of Columbia's World War I 16th Street Tree Memorial on Memorial Day (May 31) 2010. The memorial was dedicated to commemorate 530 of the District's men and women who gave their lives during the Great Conflict of 1917-1918 (World War I).
DC Historian Carroll Gibbs speaks about one of these heroes he has researched.
