The only thing worth saving in Detroit is its buildings. You retards don't understand that people all over the world come to Detroit to see the world's greatest collection of pre-war architecture. Not even New York can compare. I hope one day that if the economic climate is right, businesses can establish there inexpensively .And you want to tear it all down?Detroit is a craphole. I leave you a humble curse: May shit come alive and kiss you.
You may indeed have read that someone was interested in renovating the M.L.. However, the project may have fallen through for a variety of reasons: A creditor could have gotten cold feet; fewer tax credits than anticipated could have arrived; cost and/or occupancy estimates could have been revised; etc., etc.. The point is don't believe anything until you see workers on site with shovels in hand.
Parking lots aren't progress. They're reality. Get used to it because more are on the way.
funny that is not what i read there was even one contractor in the news paper saying he had the money to do it. the new building they build to day are shit and will last not vary long i say save the building with class and go riddances to the shit people call progress like parking lots fuck that . and if yu ask me the city can not move forward with the half ass city council it has
"The city has lost many historic places over the years" because no one wants to live or do business in them.
"There were contractors who wanted to redo Lenox..." Really? Is that why it stood vacant and open to the elements for over a decade before finally being demolished?
I'd worry a lot more about the dozens of other crumbling downtown structures slated to become parking lots in the future. The M.L. was a faded, tattered relic from a bygone era. Good riddance.
dear"breezwonder" and "nelange" fuck you. you could not see the forest for the trees the city has lost many historic places over the years do to men like mike litch. there where contractors who wanted to redo lennox and make it in to something new i say pull your heads out of your asses what is there now a parking lot and what will be there twenty years from now a parking lot and that is not progress!!!!!
When the inside of the building just fell out, I couldn't help it, i just wept. So many parallels to the state of the city as a whole, or lack there of.
Truly one of Detroit's biggest architectural losses over the past 10 years and further proof why Mike Ilitch is a greedy, evil and selfish man. As horrifying as this is to watch, I'm glad someone caught it on film.
That clamshell bucket on the crane is really cool. haven't seen one of those in action in a long time. what a great wrecking machine. Kudos to ADAMO.

Amen to that. They could level half of downtown and nobody would notice except the preservationists.
