A brilliant race, Cram was virtually untouchable in 1985 but Aouita ran him so close. The gap was huge with 200metres to go and he almost caught him!

Fantastic run to the line, from One of Brand Gitannia's nicest ever 1500metre athletes, especially when compared to Bored Crow.

Finally - I've been looking for this race! One of the greatest races I've ever seen an a genuine WR because it eventually was the result of the highest level of competition. I'd forgotten how early Cruz folded - to borrow horse racing parlance he just didn't get the trip. Aouita looks sure to nail Cram on the line, he just can't carry on through right at the end.
