Quite simply the best interpretation I have heard of this Sonata. Portrays Schubert as a passionate creative spirit simultaneously at the peak of his compositional powers and at the edge of early death. I never thought of the last movement's main theme as a kind of question/argument with it's key signature. Inspirational.
Haskil understood foreground is fore and had the technique to do it. Y . one won't agree when they' ve heard clara! Expect beter from Y . but it is not here!
this is so much refreshing to hear. comes back to great times of viennese spirit in music which was completely destroyed in 1938 and never could come back....

I have to agree with eliasbb! I listened to about thirty seconds of it and I had a big smile on my face. Wonderful!

the first true instance of laughter i have heard in a piano performance. it makes so much sense, scherzo does mean joke.
