A Campbell Cane could be an interesting senior defense device. I was asked last year about designing a cane that could be functional, artistic and defensive. The latest design fits this description. I was involved in martial arts in the 60's..now I am way over 60. I would not want to be on the other end.

Slouttop, it's not if you are carrying a big stick, it's about if you can use something of the same shape in such a way. We were taught that if you train to be able to use any object as a weapon, then you have an advantage. It's like training with a sword can help you use a machette in a fight. All of Seicho-jutsu's combat principles are exchangable with our hand-to-hand AND weaponry. How many other martial arts can actually do the same thing?

I like it, but there seems to be a bit too many unnessasary spinning flashy techniques...but my eye is untrained so meh.

Excellent! Practical and effective.

If you are suddenly attacked, would you be carrying a big stick? Do you happen to suddenly find one? Never the less I respect hanbo techniques.

wow! i used to learn some hanbo techniques as well, years ago - but this is breathtaking easeful
Has anyone commented/noticed these are escrima techniques?

They are actually hanbo techniques demonstrated with a 3 foot oak Hanbo, an eskrima baston is much shorter and made of rattan. The dynamics of the size and weight make a difference especially gripping the center of a 3ft hanbo. However I also practice eskrima and know the difference.
