Summer Solstice Band Contest!

Kimmel Center Summer Solstice Band Contest

Submission Rules:
1.) Submission Deadline (EXTENDED!) Tuesday May 31 at 11:59 EST
Upload a 3-7 minute video of a live performance or live performance montage and post in response to this video.
Submit Online Form found at http://www.kimmelcenter.org/events/summer-solstice-contest.php

2.) To qualify:
Performers must be 18 years of age or older.
Be able to provide 50-60 minutes of musical content at an evening time slot for Summer Solstice at the Kimmel Center on June 18, 2011.
Content should be G, PG, or PG-13.
Kimmel Center employees (or Kimmel Center employee family members) are not eligible to participate.
One video submission per band.

Judging Criteria
Videos will be judged by a panel on the following categories: Musicianship/Technique (intonation, rhythm, harmony, etc)
Musicality (overall sound, cohesiveness)
Theatricality (style, stage presence, attitude, presentation)
Overall

Timeline
Submission: May 20 -- May 29
Five Finalists Chosen: May 30 -- June 5
Finalists posted on Kimmel Center Facebook Page for Public Voting: June 6 -- 9.
Winner Announced: 3PM June 10 on FB/Twitter/foursquare.
Performance: June 18.

Prizes:
First Prize: A one-hour evening performance in Commonwealth Plaza during the Kimmel Center's Summer Solstice Celebration held from noon -- 2:00 AM on June 18, 2011 and your video played outside on the Kimmel Center Video Cube at the corner of Broad and Spruce Streets. (Exact times of video screening TBD).
Second and Third Prize: The opportunity for each perform for a ½ hour in Commonwealth Plaza during Friday Live! in the 2011-2012 season.

All you have to do is go to the video and go to the comments section. Once you click the box (as if you were going to write something) the option "Or create a video response" will appear to the right. Just click that, and select the video you want to audition with and follow the instructions.

I am actually not a band, but im an Organist who has played the KC Organ 3 times and who has several acquaintences among KC Staff...AND that worked for the KC for abtou 3 years. In 2008, I was aasked on a whim by Thom Warner to play the organ demonstration and several staffers said it was one of the highlights of the day. I would be honored to play it again and responded to the submission form. JUST incase you are having the Organ showcase, it would be an honor!
