This is THE simplest flower I know how to make. You can make it into a star or a flower. Easy to make tons, easy to pick down and return to. You need to know:
1) Slip knot to start.
2) Chain stitch.
3) Slip stitch.
4) Single crochet stitch.
See the Flowers #1 video for more info how to learn these stitches.

In this video, I crochet 2 of the 5 petals. I make a mistake and fix it (it's easy!).
Then I sew it up and "finish" the star.

These would look really cute on a baby scrapbook page or a card. Or use as a flower layer, attached together by brad.

Mikeysmail (The Crochet Crowd) and Teresa (Art of Chrochet) are awesome youtube channels!)

Mikeysmail makes that starting circle in this video:

Mikey and Teresa have wonderful videos for crochet, but so many it can be hard to pick through for paper crafting.

Thank you for watching :)

  • what size of the crochet thread do you use?

  • @TheHKJS Hello! For the very 1st time you make flowers - I'd recommend big - like a D or E (F?) hook and yarn. I end up using sugar and cream. it's a good size, but it can "come apart" on your hook. Sugar and Cream size will make a flower that will cover a whole card. Then work down to size 3 crochet thread. Finally you can work down to 10 thread - it makes very nice size flowers. Finally, embroidery thread. some embroidery thread is larger strand but fewer colors, etc.

  • you call that easy i cannot see it

  • @cropwithLisa thank you! :)

  • @lpswebkinz12 Hello! Make a chain of 5 or 6 stitches. Then chain stitch back into the middle of the 1st chain stitch. It is easier to see, but don't know if my camera will capture that. Mikeysmail or the Crochet crowd on youtube is pretty good. He has good camera angles. Mikey shows it in his video "How to Crochet Simple Center pieces part 1 of 2 posted Nov 11, 2010 I will message you the link - youtube won't accept it here

    Thank you for watching :)
