Walmart alone has a trade of over $27 billion dollars with China. That's about 11-12% of America's trade with China. Add that with the decline of the manufacturing sector in America and it make sense why most of the goods and services you purchase are made overseas (mostly in China). Both of America's and China's concerns are realistic...they both need to tap into the world market in order to keep their population largely employed but China seems to be the new kid on the block.

It's also kind of hard NOT to buy Chinese made goods. I always look for made in America, not just to support American jobs, but also to buy the item that has the smallest carbon footprint. But so often there's no choice.Every time I shop at Target or Walmart I feel like I need a passport as I enter sovereign Chinese territory. Of course their demographic time bomb is going to push up the price of CHinese made goods eventually, but that's some way off.

"... stop buying things from China."-- As long as we prefer purchasing cheap goods and services, it ain't gonna happen. If we decided not to buy things from China then we'd opt for Vietnam and other cheap labor-run Asian countries.

  • @kuhioffxi Why do not buy things from China?

  • They are dancing around the fact that it’s not just Greece that’s having problems. Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland are close behind. The European Union is test run for a “world government” and it’s failing miserably. Free trade and single currency cannot and will not work as long as different countries play by different rules (That goes for the EU and the greater world). Wake up world.. Stop centralizing separate governments into one entity and stop buying things from China.

  • Obama on Greece. "Don't worry about it, soon I will bankrupt the US to even up the playing field."

  • Smoke and mirrors, Greece is nothing in the world economy. The have a GDP less then ( notice this word ) the "State" of Washington.

    1 out of 50.

  • If the World Economy hinges on Greece, then we're clearly already screwed.

  • and here we have it, the scum of the earth
