All this tells me is that the FDA isn't doing their job well enough, not that all foreign fish should be avoided. It's not as though everything grown in the good 'ol US of A is perfect either. The food system in this country is just arguably more corrupt than in other nations.

It's not like a lot of our locally grown and fished foods aren't chalk full of toxic substances as well. This is not some problem that exists everywhere but here.

In australia we have the less polluted fish. this makes it a value added fish to sell to other countries. and australia imports cheaper fish that is not safe.

The ONLY thing that CAN be done is consumers stopping to buy shrimp. This is the only way.

I'm just not going to eat shrimp ever again--will not try to get cancer from it and will not give my money to shrimp farmers. BP Oil Spill, Japan nuclear incident, Toxic sewage ponds in Asia where they grow shrimp, World-wise PCB (cancerogen!) and heavy metals, mercury contamination of ALL waters. Thank you, I take a pass.
