This is the story of Jamie. When Jamie was 9 he began to rapidly exhibit symptoms, which looked a lot like OCD and Tourette's syndrome, a few weeks after a fairly normal illness with fever. Jamie was suffering from PANDAS-the acronym for "Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep". One Seattle doctor knew the disease behind the symptoms and successfully treated Jamie. On September 24th, The Today Show on NBC featured a segment on PANDAS, and a new book titled Saving Sammy - a story very similar to Jamie's.

@mtbailey1998 We were very fortunate to find a physician who was familiar with the PANDAS study taking place at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He was quick to diagnose and treat our son with antibiotic therapy. You must find a physician in your area who understands this childhood illness or is willing to learn. There is a national campaign going on right now to help our children. More can be found through the Pandas Foundation website.
