Laminar Flow

Interesting video showing Laminar Flow and demonstrating fluid flowing in layers. Very cool! Filmed at the University of New Mexico - Physics Department. Interested in having your own demo unit?...

On an atomic level, the molecules are still a fluid, moving around randomly. They're not in any crystal structure. So, given enough time, they will mix.

The entropy of a system is the disorder of the system. The 2nd law of thermodynamics says that entropy of a closed system can only increase. Even if all molecules in the system were the same, you define its initial state as the perfectly ordered state. Therefore, it can only become more disordered and the entropy can only increase.
