Fixed Single Latch on PowerBook G4 my laptop to close.

I don't get it!!! So you need 2 tooth picks and have to break one of them? I'm really stuck :L

Bending the latch did not work for me, but this toothpick trick worked great! Insert the tooth pick and tape it in there.

Another fix is to slightly bend the hooks towards the screen.

Thanks for the fix! Since I swapped out my hard drive, the lid would not stay shut. Now I can sleep, and so can my 5.5 yr old G4.

Youz the man! I just bought my ibook used and the latch was replaced by the og owner but it was the wrong size. So it would not close! Now it does! Thank you sir so very much!

Woz is Steve Wozniak, one of the founders of Apple Computer.
This is the coolest fix to an expensive and irritating problem. I've been putting stuff on top of my computer to get it to close. This fix works!!! :)

Thanks for explaining and glad it worked for you too. It still works for me. I am even considering using crazy glue to make it permanent. The toothpick seems to stay in place just fine so I haven't.
