I remember sometimes you would get the odd game (especially copied cassettes) that would not load properly and ended up with either weird looking sprites or the game crashing at a crucial moment even the game not working at all in some cases. Fab machine though - especially the music. I would love to have mine back again after all these years.

I read: great thing about the c64 it was capable of playing music and you could even play games whilst software was loading!
I was like. Yeah, but why isn't there music in this video? Right at that moment, 1:42 into the video, the music starts! Oh yeah, C64 is a bit slower than the PC, I forgot. :D

c64 is like a dos and nes put together, its a dostendo, no its even better, its fucking commodore 64! with bangin loading music!

Takes me right back to saturday afternoons sitting in my front room. Waiting for the damn thing to load

The only good thing about cassettes were the loading tunes and pics. This ocean loader 4 is my alltime favourite tune!

Great memories (up until it loaded).
Awful, awful port.
Ocean really were bellends when it came to the c64.
Thank God System 3 (now THERE'S a decent publisher) released the magnificent Turbo Charge a few years later.

@subclonk Ironically, the Spectrum and Amstrad versions of this game were superior to the C64 version.

Oops. Fond memories of this and Chase HQ 2.

Was it really as bad as you're all saying it is? I have fond memories of the
Originally wayyy back in the day I was used to the ZX spectrum, and soon as i saw that message ensure you stop the tape between each load i Did! between each gap in the data! Why they put that message on their is beyond me anyway...

Lol all you guys are forgetting one vital about these ten minute to load games!
The girls in your lives love them lmao!
Think about it, your partner wants you to cuddle up to her when you are doing some hardcore gaming, pop in a disc into your daystation and your good to go, and your girl goes in a humph
These old games at least they get a bit of playing beforehand so it keeps her happy ha ho

I agree with illman74 - the c64 conversion of this game was dire, to be fair this loading sequence was the best part of the game! Wheels of fire the c64 version wasnt worth the cash even though the c64 version of turbo outrun was mind blowing in terms of intro
yet it needed to be on a c64 with the right sid chipset :O
