Too little, too late.
Sure there was an economic crisis, but a lot of the best selling Japanese cars are made in North America and Nissan actually opened new plants in the U.S. during the same economic crisis while "The big three" where closing plants and gutting their workforce.

It's a great car and I'm sure it's reliable. Problem is that it is overpriced for what it is.
