  • @allgodscreatures2010 Ditto...

  • Sure miss the big steel horse... Wish I coulda met him before he passed...

  • Great Horse *__*

  • Bailey knew exactly how much horse he had. Very tactical move for Bailey to go 2 off from the rail coming down the stretch cause Skip Away is such a big horse and needed the room to jet through

  • The best part about Skippy was that his owners wanted the country to see him run. Their primary base was Monmouth Park where I used to live near. The Hines were not greedy money makers and were a backbone of NJ racing for years. They felt blessed having Skippy in their stable and wanted to share him with the racing community. In my opinion their class was just as brilliant in handling Skippy as was watching him run. It was their way of thanking fans for their fortune owning this horse.

  • jerry baley rode many champions in his excelent carrer God bless you man im a fan of yours.

  • I can't believe it's been a year. We miss you Luke.

  • I love Skip's gallop - that high stride makes him look so powerful and confident...what a great horse!

  • i can't watch churchill anymore without luke.

  • It was stated a few posts down...this is when horse racing had horses that ran on dirt, faced the best and travelled to face the best.

The 80's were great, especially the late 80's and the 90's were good too

Now, hardly any good 3 year olds run into their 4 or 5 year old season - not to say there are not good older horses to watch, but because of breeding, off they go.

Imagine if Any Given Saturday, Street Sense & Hard Spun would be racing this year?
