In 1972, Johnny Carson moved "The Tonight Show" from the NBC studios in New York, to the NBC facility in Burbank, CA. There it has stayed since, but in 2009, the Tonight Show wil be leaving what it's known as home for 37 years to brand new, state of the art digital facilities in nearby Universal Studios.
This video footage of me at the NBC studios in Burbank, CA was taken in January of 1999.
Stick around till the end and you'll be treated to a surprise appearance by Fat Al, the former Tonight show sound engineer who, in the 90s, would occasionally show up on camera dressed only in his underwear. Alas, he doesn't do that anymore.

  • That dude, the sound engineer from the Tonight Show who shows up at the end of the video.........that's the way those celebrities who act like assholes should treat their fans. He was nice, polite, respectful and then he just said nice to meet you.....see you. How much trouble was that for him to do that?

  • @chungiemunchin - Yeah, he was a nice guy.

  • I went there with my dad when he visited to see Jay Leno.

    Jay is the man.

  • Jay is okay, but I like Conan better. I for one am glad he's taking over the Tonight show. Can't wait!

  • you look a bit like matt leblanc.

in fact that's who i thought you were....at first

  • Matt Le Blanc huh? Why thank you! How you doin'? :)

  • The only part worth watching was the fat guy at the end. Who cares about 4 minutes of the outside of the building?

  • i live just up the streeet from there

  • I like conan better than jay on the tonight show and im glad they choose jimmy fallon to replace him on late night.

  • I agree with you totally! Jay Leno's SO CALLED comedy is too FUCKING STAGED! He's totally fake and just boring! Conan is REAL COMEDY! It's less restricted, spontaneous and just unsurpassed! I can't wait to see Conan's NBC Tonight Show's debute. Unlike Leno, he'll totally transform, rejuvenate, and put a REAL HAPPY FACE on the writers, producers, and the rest of the staff at NBC! "Welcome Conan......welcome to L.A.!!!!"

  • I was just down there a few months ago
