risingsunproductions.net persents Master instructors Brian Ricci and Frank Gaviola of the Zen Bei Butoku Kai learned these forms directly from Hanshi Richard Kim of the Butoku Kai. Richard Kim learnt them directly from Toyama Kanken and Hiroshi Kinjo at the end of WWII in Yokohama Japan. Both Gaviola and Ricci have won several national and international competitions with these forms done the traditional way.

  • @kyoken1414 lol!!! they all make the swishing sound. it's part of the zen bei butokukai method of performing kata.

  • I never expected to see my Sensei in this video (even for just a few seconds)~! Go Sensei Romanelli~!!

  • very good ^^

  • One of the best ways to make your karate better is weapon training like kobudo.

  • Oh well, we will have to agree to disagree then...

  • 1)You Are Right, What I Should Have Said Was Martial Arts

2)I Never Said You Said They Are Crap, I Have Trained With Them And Around Them, They Have Some Of The Best Kata In The Entire World

    3)So Do I

  • kobudo is not karate ? ..so karate weapoons kata are not karate ? I dont understand?..not saying you're wrong ..but you should explain..and who is Kinjo Hiroshi ?

  • 1 - This is not karate, this is Kobudo.

2 - I said they aren't too bad, I didn't say they were crap. I think they are pretty good, but I have seen better.

    3 - I know what I am talking about.

  • I Agree With You, If You Think They Are "Not Too Bad" Then You Don't Know Karate

  • I hate to be negative, but Richard Kim only met Toyama, but never trained with him. plus those were bo kata, not naginata. I liked the taekwondo swishing sounds to... :-/
