Classic Game Room HD reviews GIGA WING for Sega Dreamcast from Capcom released in 2000. This vertical scrolling SHMUP on the Sega Dreamcast has awesome gameplay that's easy to pick up and play. Rack up a massive multiplyer by wasting thousands of enemy space ships and airplanes with four different weapon packed characters. One or two player gameplay rounds out this affordable and exiting Dreamcast shooter. Giga Wing is a space ship shoot 'em up where you shoot enemies, power up your guns and reflect shots back at your opponents to rack up multiplyer points and earn an astronomical score. This CGR review of Giga Wing has gameplay from Giga Wing on Sega Dreamcast, which was originally released in the arcades. Giga Wing is one of many SHMUPS on the Dreamcast, but is it the best?

  • by the way, 11.7 quintillion points is the highest recorded score on Giga Wing. Mark's 296 billion points is just a drop in the bucket, which is freakish.

You know you're playing Giga Wing when your score is more easily spoken in scientific notation. 6.2x10^23

  • Get one. That's exactly what a DC is

good at. Bored of my 360 go play

some different styled games on my DC!

  • I love 2D Bullet Hell Shooters they just look so freakin awesome!!!

  • Thanks Mark, because of you, I have 2 Sega Dreamcast consoles. I have the black sports edition and the regular white one as well. I have no shortage of Dreamcast consoles and 93 games for it including Giga Wing 1 and 2, Mars Matrix and Ikaruga.

  • For a Dreamcast game, it looks kind of ugly. Especially when comparing to Galactic Attack, a last-gen game, looks so much better to the eye.

  • @borobengal Sounds right, l searched for it for years and never found it.

  • @poisonhedorah Sorry, was getting mixed up with the second one, don't think that was released in the UK.

  • @borobengal There was a UK version

  • I've got the US version, wasn't reelased in the UK, plays fine on my UK console. Not a bad game.

  • There is also a cheat to unlock another ship, it's the best ship, purple, laser stream beam, constant flow and its fast as fuck, its called The Stranger, its the true end boss of the game and attached to 2 mini bosses on 2 different levels.

  • this was more addictive and rewarding to play than gigawing 2, but man.... did you HEAR the soundtrack to gigawing 2? its AMAZING!

in fact the whole theme to gigawing 2 is just.... unnerving, but great at the same time

  • Man, this guy sure loves Seaman :D ... oh wait D:
