Businesses these tend to eat each other up, you end up with a monopoly, Bell was broken in 13 baby Bells, only most of the Bells got back together under ATT, with the SOLE contract for the Iphone, very uncompetitve. Same with insurance, each state has one major player, in Texas, it's Blue Cross/Shield. The health monopolies have a 75% stake in each state. Insurnace has carved up the US between them. There are only 5 insurance companies.

If a business is ripping off its customers, it would just go out of business, unless it had government privileges. No industry is corrupt, until government makes it so. And with health care, that started about 100-200 years ago. Now, the whole industry is politics and therefore everyone wants to think they have an opinion on it.

railroad, maybe the public option will get back in when Obama, Reid and Pelosi merge the 2 bills, you never know, dropping pre-existing conditions would be nice. So don't give up yet. Call your representatives to keep the public option warm.

So much for the public option. I'm all about a free market (where externalities are managed) but the current health care industry is not a free market nor will it ever be so long as health insurance exists (people have no incentive to shop for the most cost effective procedures, hospitals, and doctors if they're not paying the bill. I'm all for a single payer system or a system without private health insurance.

Its not, the public option is out, is the administration that makes it so expensive You have THE most expensive drugs in the world, twice the price of Europe or Canada, can you image the savings of 60% off drugs?  No good if it ends up in the CEO pocket

Is that a lot, it would run a few hospitals for a year, what about the patients? For less shit I would take a big pay cut, but in the US, they want more care for less money, I would rather flip burgers
