Made to promote his brilliant debut album, Mona Lisa Overdrive, on Creation and Poptones. Stay tunes for his forthcoming new album soon. http://www.myspace.com/theetrashmonk

You may remember Nick best from his days as lead singer of The Dream Academy who had worldwide success with such singles as "Life in a Northern Town", "The Love Parade", and "The Edge of Forever" (which was in the Ferris Bueller movie).

Listen to Nick's latest song for free ("Mayday"). It was co-written in May 2009 with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and was written for a Greenpeace documentary by Nick Broomfield about the Kingsnorth protesters. http://nicklairdclowes.com/

To listen to what Gilbert is doing today, please see his most recent release including a remake of an old Dream Academy cover at http://www.songcastmusic.com/albums?zoom_query=32383 and www.thechapelofdreams.com

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I had this on my old PC but the disk failed and the Creation site this was originally on was removed yonks ago. Was way ahead of its time as a promo device, and extremely well done.

Where's the second album we've been promised for years?

NLC looking worryingly like the dj Mike Reid here :O lmao.

  • The 2nd album is done per Nick. He's just waiting to try and find a label to release it properly since Creation and then Poptones went under. That's music in this century for you.

  • hey guys,

it was nearly ten years ago.

i'm living somewhere else now, married & making movie soundtracks but i still love to see the old place !

  • I, like you, did far too much stuff I shouldn't have done during those mad, but brilliant, acid house days. It turned me from indie onto dance music and, having just heard Trashmonk, I think you capture the two genres perfectly. I love the combination of your voice and the dark dance beat underneath. It's so different. I can't believe the some of the negative comments on here because I think it is quality. Hope I can still find your debut album on vinyl. And, tidy your flat up.....

  • Brilliant, bonkers...but brilliant.

  • a small cluttered apartment, but a brilliant mind that is healing. We all need time to find our self regardless of what age. I turned to higher power which gave me stability. he gave me hope for a better future. How kind loving forgiving and all wise. I Did my years of many mix-up moments of insecurities. |Wish the best for you nick. keep praying and you will find the answer. YHWH....

  • Pretty cool view of a life, of a time spent (but my God that kitchen!)

Bought all the Dr Ac albums (all 3) I could find in the 80s-early 90s. Unlike alot of stuff from then, still listen to them now & again. (Remembrance Days prob my fave.) They never were in fashion, I guess, but it was prob fashion that swept them away. ADKoW sounded like they were ending, dissipating. Wasn't surprised they broke up. Wondered where they went (the cor anglias girl did a solo album). Now Trashmonk

  • Cool. Never knew this existed.

  • One of thee if not thee most underrated bands ever in our times "The Dream Academy", so superbly written , and i still listen daily for the past twenty-four years .! Pure Genius in disguise !
