Vic Bondi...one of the most pretentious, idiotic pseudo-punker ever. He sounds so pathetic in the "You weren't there" documentary.

I was SOOOO lucky to be born in Chicago and stumble into punk in the 80's. I guess you say the scene was "small" but trust me during my 20 years of traveling I saw way smaller.
But that first generation was a little on the insider side, but that era didn't last long (when you look at the big picture, it was only those first 3-4 years of 78-81,82). By 83 it was pretty democratic...

WOW, first time ever I see them live. One of my favorite HC bands. I wonder why they seem be be underrated? I think the same.
The Chicago hc scene was small. Of course some more popular punk bands like The Effigies, Naked Raygun or Strike Under.
Vic said afterwards it was a dishonest time, scene old and pretentious.
I like their later songs very much, more emotional, political and personal. They were somehow the first what was later called "emo".
(Yes, ridiculous term and sub-genre later.)

I saw AOF at the graystone in Detroit,I do believe. My memory is not so good as it used to be. Great to see this stuff again. Still have some of those records. You guys still not getting along with the effigies?

Ferocious! What a perfect word to describe one of the most underrated bands. AOF is truly a ferocious band with fantastic lyrics that are inspiring and music that was advanced and original. They were not just good, they were important. Vic is a genius.

Growing up in Chicago and barely a teenager and discovering bands like this is impossible to describe. I'm thankful every day to have been here to see the 70's funk, 80's punk, skateboarding and breakdancing, 90's internet, right on into Obama time.

When my terrible band opened for these guys in the same time frame 'What We Want Is Free'they had ONE guitarist, a lot less hair and they were one of the tightest, most ferocious and inspiring groups I've ever seen. They played for at most 12 people, lost money, and I for one will never forget it. They were also friendly, thoroughly decent people.
