I don't understand the metrics. Sure, comparing indian military expeditures to other world powers speaks to an abiding need for national recognition, but doesn't serve the pressing interests of its citizens (infrastructure, hunger, law enforcement, etc.)
With 25 percent of indians going hungry, the greatest threat to indian national security is malnutrition. With this in mind, an invading enemy could easily conquer india (without firing a shot) by simply feeding its poor.
