Incorrect explanation at 1:07. He does not say prayer, he says pranayam - breath regulation. Sorry it sucks to see a Yogis message distorted.

@brainlaundry thats a kinda narrow defenition on religion you have:) but its true that hindusim isnt just one religion or darsana, but many different traditions that ppl in the west have just simply called hindusim:)
-
why are you being racist?
your clearly not a well read Hindu to come out with such garbage.
the civilization you speak of was not even invented by Europeans.
-
Europeans are primat in the impious life of a misdirected civilization.
-
To sociologists and anthropologists , the Yoga reveals the practical workings of a peaceful and scientifically organised Hindu Vedic culture whose institutions were integrated on the basis of a highly developed spiritual World view.

@mayatiita1 I don't think it's really necessary to nitpick here. Various sources show a variety of information, philosophies, texts, etc. about the origin....some state it goes back 5000, some say 7000, some say even 10000 years...Not really a reason to put down Georg Feuerstein. He wrote over 36 books on this topic...I am pretty sure he knows what he is talking about.
I really liked this film....

If Georg Feuerstein, Ph. D is supposed to be so knowledgable about yoga then why are there a couple of very obvious simple mistakes in this video, e.g. yoga is not five thousand years old, it is over seven thousand years old. That is not some great mystery, everyone who knows every a little bit about yoga knows even that much.

@juhuluv15 it's not just the philosophy of the Vedanta and Upanishads, its the original vedas, the tantras and the agamas as well. And many other scriptures and schools of thought.
-
@karlrebello they're related and similar, but the vedas are very unique and self contained, beyond common historical roots and heritage, the avestha and the vedas aren't really comparable.
sorry, NOT a Religion!!!Almost all Religions are based on the opinion of an individual, while Hinduism, is a school of thought, to which many enlightened soul's have contributed.

NOt quite ! Most Religions evolved, over ages ,exchanged, borrowed, stole ideas and concepts from other belief systems. Islam for instance is a branch or distortion of Judaism and Christianity, which in turn took concepts (Like Monotheism ) from earlier Religions
