At a gathering of black conservatives at the National Press Club on 8/4/10, Joyce Jones of Black Enterprise magazine asks why claims about tea party racism made by Representative John Lewis (D-GA) made on the weekend of the Obamacare vote in the House of Representatives cannot be accepted at face values based on his civil rights movement past. William Owens of Tea Party Express, AlfonZo Rachel of PJTV, Niger Innis of Project 21 and the Congress of Racial Equality, Ruth White of Break News Journal and author Kevin Jackson point out that politics in a key player in racism claims, and should be seem through that prism and not as a purely civil rights issue.
The Project 21 black leadership network is a program of The National Center for Public Policy Research.
