My dad tought me this rule when I was 7 years old, that was 34 years ago. This has been the rule of law forever. Nothing new.

He is right... Now, it is sad that as an adult he didn't know of the statute. I was told this at a very young age and it is standard pedestrian law. However, the boy had been hit by a car and another statute says pedestrians have the right of way and especially children. So there you go. Why wasn't that girl sited?
