This is a demonstration of the dynamic simulation and finite element analysis (FEA) environments in Autodesk Inventor 2011. I modernized a trebuchet to show some of the capabilities built into Autodesk Inventor. The demonstration shows how to do basic FEA, then I set up a dynamic simulation that launches a projectile from the system, and follow that up with another FEA using the motion loads generated by the simulation.

  • hi i have a question...can u do an FEA on the assembly in inventor 2009??...i watched ur vid but i cant seem to do it in 2009...maybe im missing something.

  • @ulrickwester Honestly, I can't remember. If you could it would probably be in the Pro version not standard. Are you a student? If you are you should just download the new version from the student community (students.autodesk.com). I searched youtube and found a tutorial on it (search for "Simple FEA Newest ") which shows FEA in 2009. Not sure what version of 2009 he is running.

  • Great job, thank you ! I've learnt a lot from your videos :D. I'll try do do some simulations in my projects at university.

  • @DQHUGO Thanks. I will be posting a new video next week on Autodesk Inventor Publisher.

  • Thank you, Very Descriptive and in depth. I would love to learn how to do all of this. What is the price of this program?

  • @iamenjoi Commercial users will need to contact their local reseller. You can find them on the Autodesk website.

  • Great video John, very understandable, very difficult to learn that from a book!

  • Hello! This is a great video tutorial, you made the process very understandable. Are you willing to share the assembly files? Thanks

  • Haha this is awesome, I was taught the basics of inventor at college, now I'm learning PTC creo at uni but Inventor is just so much more straightforward! Thank you for making this software available to students :)

  • @ulrickwester

They didn't add that until 2010...take John's advice and get to 2011...2012 is out in a couple of weeks

  • @iamenjoi - Students can register for the Autodesk Education Community and download full student versions of all major Autodesk software at no cost.
