CDJ-2000 MIDI to Laptop Wiring

After a few questions regarding using the CDJ-2000 as a MIDI controller, I took a shot at wiring the decks to my computer. Thanks to RRolergod for giving me some advice about setting it up. I'll update once Serato and Pioneer play nice together. Thanks for watching!

hey man im getting cdj 900. i was wondering, since i have serato SL1 i have to have an extra usb port to hook up all three usb Cords right? I.e. one from the cdj 900, the second one from the other cdj and the third one from the serato box. Thanks

@ipodnanoguy12 You would have to buy a USB hub to connect everything to your laptop. Fortunately, they are almost all under $20. Make sure you find one with al least 5 ports so that you have flexibility to add stuff in the future. My USB hub is a Belkin and it works great. I opted for a powered one since my external hard drive requires a powered source to run.

Would you mind telling me exactly what you have from the CD-J's to Speakers?

@omentk My cdjs connect to an Allen and Heath Xone:92 mixer. From that mixer, I have all my speakers connecting directly. For home setup, inwould recommend a good set of studio monitors and subwoofer.

If your mixer and speakers are a bit more basic, you can connect a receiver to you mixer via red/white component cables and speakers directly to the receiver.

thanks so much i thought that you can only use the CDJ's with CDs only im a computer DJ so i guess i can use my laptop with the CDJ' 2000's

simple question.......when you have connected all these up like you did ion the video can you use rekordbox?? as in be able to drag your tracks from rekordbox into the cdj icons? or will i have to go down the ethernet and network hub route to do this?

@stereoflavasmusic Actually, if you look at the date of the video, the cdj 2000s/900s had just come out and weren't compatible with any programs (except Traktor), so for those who don't let their programs match beats for them (ie: Serato users) could only connect the MIDI. At that point there was no communication between the software and the CDJ. Also, it wasn't stated that the program needed to be open.

@wilson121415 You need to connect both cdjs to your laptop. Most likely you will need to buy a USB hub for all your USB connections. Watch my newest video because there are a couple og new steps since both serato and cdjs have updated.
