  • its illegal to remove anything from federal lands without a permit ,

  • @calarea47

Withdrawn from mineral location, does not mean that it is illegal to remove gold or other minerals from side public / federal property. "Withdrawn from mineral location" only mean it is not open to staking a claim.

  • hi technically i heard gold removal is illegal CA , under the usfs , its withdrawn from mineral locations . google it ,, san gabriel al;so ,

  • i did a lil sluicing in the top gravel of lytle creek and found some gold flake and lots of gold dust.... I've only seen 1 person panning in lytle creek, but heard at one point it was covered every inch in claims. Whats the laws of looking for gold in Lytle creek? Do i need a permit to look for gold anywhere in san gabriels? I live so close, now i've got gold fever with only 1 flake in my gold vile, trying to figure out what to do to get this gold dust out of the black sands...

  • @inebriatedbumblebee - Thanks for the heads-up! Much appreciated. I found some placer flakes at the Kern River last week. NO ONE was panning. Might want to check it out some time.

  • @highcap56 The fire didn't touch the east fork at all. I was hiking up there today. Lots of people out panning.

  • Thanks for this informative video. Can you tell me if the Station Fire of Aug/Sept 2009 burned out this area, or was it spared?

  • @anticonvention I can give you a tour of the canyon. I hiked that canyon several times and find Bear,Deer,Rams,Coyotes and everything inn between

  • Cool Video, Interesting history.

  • Was always my favorite place to hike as a kid because it was so eerie...they were building alot up there in the early 1900's when a massive flood washed everything away...everything sits there today as it did when the flood happened...in the middle of nowhere sits a concrete bridge that was once part of a highway, just sitting over a ravine all by itself...and unused railroald ties & tracks from the partially built railroad system still sitting in a pile where it stood when the flood hit..trippy
