100 billion on a government operated lab to come up with CURES not treatments for diseases that are currently afflicting the world. Not only will the government gain a massive source of revenue from patents to the cures coming in from other countries but the USA would be known as the country that cured AIDS, malaria, Hepatitis and Diabetes or something along those lines ... how many terrorists could justify attacking that country?

Oh and I'd spend the rest on paying off debt.

If you don't want to spend that trillion dollars on defense (one of the few enumerated duties of the federal government), then how about this for an idea...GIVE IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE THAT IT BLELONGS TO! That isn't the government's money, that money was coerced from US citizens under the threat of incarceration. What ever happened to the idea that the money a person earns is THEIRS, and that they know a heck of a lot better how to spend it than a bunch of bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.?

This is a great idea. The reason we went into Iraq was for oil and we need energy to run our country. Why not spend the trillion on renewable and sustainable energy sources? That would go a long way to solving the problem. I'm from the UK but it looks like you guys also need to sort out your medical services and spend some money on your infrastructure too, you guys are lagging!

Im don't know all of the major issues in the US, some of that money should go to making sure dirtbags like Bush never get a chance to speak or act in your favors!! Let's spend a few hundred billion dollars to nationalize our housing and take housing out of the speculative market. Then turn over title to each and every homeowner, and for vacant homes, turn them over to the homeless and renters.
