I've never had a Samhain bonfire. My circle usually just opens the circle to ancestors and we divine and share a meal. Do you hold the ritual of leaving food and drink for the departed as well?

i say only natural wood be used. its a traditional holy fire! no orange crates allowed! thats how that natives do things. a sacred fire must have sacred uncorrupted wood! :)

Well, we are country folk and mostly kitchen witches, so we tend to be very practical :) Not to mention getting enough just plain logs to burn is bloody expensive. So we make do with what we have on hand. We tend to lean more towards intent then materials.
