Goofy was first known as "Dippy Dawg," then later he was also known as "George Geef," "G.G. Geef," "Super Goof," "G.G. Goof" and now what we know today as "Goofy."

@Avital1999 Actually, at the time, the Disney animators liked to use alliterations, such as M-ickey M-ouse (MM) , D-0nald D-uck (DD), H-orace H-orsecollar (HH) etc... So, since he obviously a humanized dog, they called him D-ippy D-og.(DD)
