This video was shown at the 1992 Nascar Winston Cup awards banquet to honor Alan Kulwicki. Kulwicki was the first (and so far last) owner/driver to win the championship in the modern era. Kulwicki was killed in a plane crash on April 1st, 1993 on his way to the Bristol Motor Speedway

  • There will never be another Alan Kulwicki.

  • 1992 was probably the most memorable year of nascar racing. 6 drivers had a chance at winning the title at the last race in Atlanta. Alan deserved this title after getting wrecked at the Dover Race putting him in 7th in the points. To come back and win it all (with the old points system) is amazing by today's standards. There will be never another driver like him and i'm happy to say at least I was able to watch the man race. I'm sure Jerry Kuwicki, his dad, is still a proud man of his son.

  • What a fantastic racer Alan was. It had been said that another owner/driver will never win a championship. It only took 19 years for Tony Stewart to do it! I think Alan is smiling from up on high.

  • Legend in his own time.

  • @bigfoot2448 hince the polish victory lap

  • what is this song called??

  • I hope alan gets in the hall of fame hes is the last true owner driver to win the championship..

  • I would really like to have seen what he could have built for himself in this sport. it is a shame we will never find out . He was the one I would watch every Sunday at race time. He was such an inspiration to so many people

  • Thanks for the memories, Alan--you did it YOUR WAY.

  • tony stewart will be the next driver/owner champion

  • Not the first owner driver champ!!

    Lee Petty

    Joe Weatherly

    Richard Petty

  • RIP, Alan. You are forver my inspiration, and the greatest driver ever to walk foot on the track.

When Alan died, the single guy, the team owner/driver, the Dave Marcis persona. It died with him.
