Solitary confinement addressed by Congress

Solitary confinement has been seen as a form of torture. The denial of human contact and being cramped in a small space is believed to break down the human spirit and on Tuesday, a congressional hearing took place for the first time to discuss the use of this technique on individuals in prisons. Bradley Manning experienced the questionable form of imprisonment and a member of the UN attempted to hold a meeting with the Private First Class, but was denied. Kevin Gosztola, blogger for Dissenter.FireDogLake.com, gives us his take on today's hearing and what this could mean for the use of solitary confinement cases.

Bradley Manning is an International Hero!!! God Bless Him. When the feckless cowards that confined him there, begin their rapid descent into the bowels of HELL to join Barry, the Banksters and the rest of the minions of Satan, may they have all the company they could ever want to be damned with! On a lighter note, sometimes, confining an individual to solitary or "administration segregation" is the only way to keep them alive and away from murderous fellow inmates. Believe me, I know!

So what if Manning is in solitary confinement. If it were up to me I would have gave him a blind fold and a cigarette before shooting him between the eyes by now. He should consider himself lucky.

Solitary confinement for Bradley Manning was set an example for the whistleblowers for not expose the realities of US Imperialism and making the American people realize that.
