William Huhn will be presenting a number of courses to fitness professionals on trigger point:
UNDERSTANDING TRIGGER POINTS TO OVERCOME PAIN
DESCRIPTION:
Trigger points will affect muscles in the sedentary or athletic body and can cause a considerable amount of long term misery if you are unfamiliar with their behavior and how to remove them.
As fitness professionals, you are educated with the topic of muscles and related anatomy/physiology. You are also familiar with nutrition as it relates to mental and physical performance. I know from experience, that your dedication and attitude regarding health and fitness, will often inspire your clients to progress to a physical and mental fitness level they might not have attained without your support and guidance. Even though you are dedicated professionals, there are times when you may be puzzled regarding a client's physical progress. Why is this person in pain? Why are they not building muscle? Why is their particular problem not getting better? The client is usually looking to you for the answers. What do you tell them?
Sometimes the problem simply does not fit the usual model. Hopefully, this does not happen often. But if it does, you'll want all the knowledge you can get to help your client. This should include an understanding of myofascial trigger points. And that's what this workshop is all about...trigger points and Trigger Point Bodywork. It should be considered and recommended as an option for the remedial treatment of pain or performance issues. And should also be a part of ALL physical rehabilitation protocol.
This workshop is not designed nor intended to make you a trigger point expert. The objective here is to focus some light on myofascial pain and a type of bodywork that has been overlooked and misunderstood for far too long, especially in the fitness arena.
This workshop covers basic information on myofascial trigger points and how they play a role in acute and chronic pain issues.
