  • she reminds me of Callas...

  • Now I know who the baritone is: it is Aldo Protti, because I finally have her IL MITO DELL'OPERA compilation from her performances, Vol. 2, where she sings Maria di Rohan, Rigoletto (Caro nome, this duet and the finale), Traviata (Addio del passato), Aida (O patria mia, Tomb Scene with Vickers), Vissi d'arte from Tosca, Boheme (Mi chiamano Mimi and Donde lieta usci), the mirror aria from Thais, L'altra notte from Mefistofele, and Poveri fiori from Adriana Lecouvreur. Simply amazing!

  • Zeani is such a compelling Gilda! This is simply gorgeous; listen to her Cara Nome, too!

Her technique is so fully mastered, that she draws one in, as iron filings to a magnet!

Unlike other sopranos, Zeani is never strident, and I have yet to hear her hit a false note! She has a 3+ octave range, and has the ability to waft from the softest of pianissimos to an earshattering forte, that would shame a Macaw!

    Brava, Virginia! Grazie!

Thank you, CharlotteinWeimar, for these gifts!

  • Her portrayal of Gilda is so highly and sublimely artistic. Her Gilda is so vulnerable, innocent, and her voice heavenly. Who was the Rigoletto of this performance? He is excellent, as well. He reminds me of the great Bastianini, and Zeani reminds me of Callas!
