@CityOfAngels9 Okay, let me see if I can explain this one. When Scully says she wouldn't put herself on the line for anyone but Mulder, he talks about the iced tea because he enjoyed that comment and I'm pretty sure he was flirting. ;) She flirts back by telling him it must be fate and the whole root beer comment is both a joking continuation of said flirting and a denial of their relationship in the hopes that Mulder will stop playing around and get some rest. Did that help?

I just love this scene, makes me smile everytime.the humor and affection :)

@AwesomeAuror I read it, thank you for sharing your thoughts! And I fully agree with what you said here. As much as it frustrates me sometimes, their unspoken love is one of the things I love most about them.

More in depth response below, but basically: they do talk about how much they love each other. They just don't need to say "I love you" to communicate how deep their feelings are. A touch of the hand, a smile, or a witty comeback is all they need. They both have communication and trust issues, so sharing emotions is difficult. They have a relationship that doesn't require verbal reminders of affection because it's always there.

I've always taken this to mean that Scully honestly cares about Mulder, and at this point, she refuses to turn back. She's in for good. Mulder is a little nervous about that kind of commitment, so he responds, typically, with a joke. Scully's response could mean: a) fate will tear their partnership apart and working together is doomed from the start or most likely, b) it's fate that two polar forces would attract each other and bond, and that drink choices are the least of their concerns.

It's bizarre to see them so young, but looking older than ever because of their hairstyles.
And the witty flirting. They've had that down since they met.

@terentule Yeah it's a nice scene anyway! Maybe you're right. Thanks for the reply! :)

@Rachelspicygirl Well, I was wondering the same thing, but I think it's as you said. Scully said something very honest and Mulder jokingly reacts. And Scully's 'must be fate' probably means something like 'looks like universe doesn't want us together'. But I don't know, it is bit weird, yet still awesome scene :D. Maybe they weren't that scared to talk about their relationship yet (remember Pilot :D?).

@CityOfAngels9 Right, I wrote 'faith' by mistake! I meant 'fate'! lol ;)
Haha well I feel less like a fool now! :P Let's hope someone answers!
Not sure if I ever got that scene right. So Mulder's making a joke about what Scully said by betting that if there's an iced tea in that bag it's a sign that there's love between him and Scully? And when Scully says 'Must be faith', is she trying to make him believe there's an iced tea? And Mulder lets a fake sigh to pretend he's really disappointed?
I just think it's strange that they joke on that when they always seem to avoid talking about anything related to their love for each other.

@Rachelspicygirl I think she says "must be FATE." But to be honest, I never understood this scene. I just uploaded it because everyone else seems to haha! So someone who gets it, please enlighten us!!
