So this is my 1988 Saab 900i, 8v, no turbo. Looks like the alternator might be the cause of starting problems. What about the water from exhaust? or oil lamp? or AC hissing noise? help?!

  • the oil light is gonna come on when a engine stops cuz there is no longer oil pressure it should go off when its running. The water is normal as well its just condensation in the exhaust from sitting. if i was u i would tighten down the alternator its just too lose and check ur distributor cap and rotor and your coil that they have significant voltage and having a big ground wire wouldn't hurt.

  • @osvst I have now sold the Saab a few months ago. It was more rooted than one might think. The transmission only ran in two gears, the engine burned a substantial amount of water, petrol seeped through into the oil sump. It was a car from hell, and I could not afford to get it all fixed up unfortunately :(
