Careful. Without a reasonable resistor the guts of the motor can fly apart while short cut breaking it :-)

im guessing when you short the Motor the Spinning Coil Generates a Magnetic Field that opposes that of the Permenant Magnet....slowing down the Motor and eventually causing it to come to a Resting position?
