We've updated Puremagnetik Retro Synths, our most popular Partner Instrument, and it's free for all Live 8 and Suite 8 owners. Until October 31, Retro Synths is also free with all purchases of or upgrades to Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8.

In this movie, Ableton's Dennis DeSantis walks track-by-track through a Live Set made using only presets from the Puremagnetik Retro Synths collection.

  • this guy's voice is putting me to sleep so flat ....mate , accents are what makes life interesting....

  • Ime trying to learn how to use ableton so frickin complicated

  • my real vintage synths sound better. silly laptop musicians hahaha.

  • sounds amazing

  • Does it work with regular Ableton, or do I need some other addons, like operator..?

  • @vStylerJohnG Right...the complete retrosynths-library sounds cheesy and halfhearted...like an early beta :-/

  • @kpscissorsbrown The small Velocity slider to the right of the Cutoff knob (highlighted at this point in the video) is used to set the intensity of the velocity->cutoff modulation. The higher the setting, the more the filter cutoff will respond to changes in velocity.

  • Does anyone know how he modulated the filter by the note velocity at 3:50? Some kind of macro?

  • can someone help me the things that i have under Puremagnetik: Microdrum wont work ever time i try to play something from it it doesnt make any sound and i really REALLY NEED IT so if anyone can tell me why

  • why do all their demo songs always sound so flipping light and loungey. Even elevators don't play this stuff anymore.

Beyond that I cant tell if these plug ins are any good. Wow, great way to demo a T-303, with three notes spread out, instead of a cycling arpeggio, LAME.

The demos on the website are terrible too. Makes me wonder if thing generates anything anyone wants, or just different stripes of the same weak crap.
