I've found that such lengthy priming is not required. You don't need to wait for the fuel to boil before you put the pot on.

Excellent video. Planning to make a Supercat for an upcoming camping/bushcrafting event. Thanks!

I built the cat stove from the same plans (check my latest video) and it didn't get hot enough to boil after running out of fuel in 10 minutes. It just bubbled, but the surface remained non-rolling. Can you diagnose my problem? Is it because the cat food can was sitting right on the ground? Or because I didn't use a lid? Maybe my windscreen didn't allow enough oxygen? Thanks for any advice.

Don't waste your priming heat! Hold your pot over your stove while priming for 30 to 35 sec. (or your stoves priming time). This will reduce the amount of fuel needed and your pot will be warm when placing on top of the stove reducing boiling time!
Simple but comprehensive video. This is the cheapest and easiest stove I've seen. I made the stove, bought the fuel (denatured alcohol) but have yet to light it up. I will be testing it very soon! Do you have a good idea for transporting the stove in a backpack? I don't want it to get smooshed. LOL. Thanks for posting this video. I learned a lot.

@TammyLoves2Read There are numerous plastic containers to use. Ziploc and Rubbermaid containers work well. The ones with screw top lids are especially nice. Kool-Aid, Tang and some other drinks are now sold in nice little screw top containers. These containers will need the built-in funnel top cut off but it's easy to do with a good pair of scissors.

Can you use rubbing alchohol

@hillybillymitch You can, and it works but... rubbing alcohol does not burn as clean since it contains oils. That makes it sooty which wil make a mess of your pots.

@cougarbahia Nope, no pot stand required. Couldn't be any simpler, great little stove for flat bottom pots.
