tainan lantern festival year of the dog (2006)

lantern festival at the anping harbour (just outside of tainan)
featuring lanterns made by all sorts of people and organizations
from elementary students to inmates in correctional institutions
some as part of the national lantern making contest
though the festival lasted two weeks
the traditional custom is to walk through streets
carrying hand lanterns
on the 15th day of the first lunar month
the festival would then officially end the chinese new year
