This is a procedure for a heel spur on the back of the heel with achilles tendonitis. This involves detaching the achilles tendon and removing the boney enlargement, then reattaching the achilles tendon with a suture bridge. This is a two part video.

  • I had 2 bone spurs and tears in my achilles, I had surgery July 2010 and had a splint on my foot in the down position for 3 weeks so the tendon could heal, then in the normal foot position for 3 weeks and then a walking boot for 2 weeks, finally in a shoe. I now need the left foot done. I have a bad back and could not use a walker or crutches, so I was in a wheel chair for 8 weeks! It was awful. I just saw someone today who has a "roll about" to use after her foot surgery.

  • @4101961 Yes the Roll About can be very helpful when non-weight bearing. Best Wishes.

  • I am going to have this procedure next year as I have so much pain. But I am already 70 years old. Will it ever heal at my age? When will I be able to drive again?

  • @MrOker7 As long as your circulatory status is normal, you should heal as well as anyone. You should still be able to drive after the procedure. Best wishes.

  • hello Dr.,

is this the same surgery as in "Haglund's Deformity Reduction " video?

  • @foxfirestube This procedure is very predictable and patients usually do quite well with it. It does take quite some time to fully heal. Best wishes.

  • @AlexJBragg Surgical videos are not for everybody. Best wishes.

  • @padeheer I'm getting ready to have this procedure and I'm scared to death after looking at this video...I worry about not being able to walk longer because of the diabetes.
