The consequence of life, is not too clear to see
And as I try to find life's meaning, it's not what it appears to be
There's a secret that is hidden, that is deep within my soul
When my life has reached its limit, I'll look back and then I'll know
That it's not the place I'm going, or the places that I've been
Its the way I've lived my life, when I finally reach the end
Did I tell my kids I loved them, did I kiss my wife goodnight
Did I wake up every morning, and thank God I was alive
Did I smile at a stranger, did I call up an old friend
Did I drive up to that hospital, and thank those Veterans
Did I help that homeless man, who was standing in the rain
Did I come home from work early, to take my dad to that ball game
Did I give someone some money, when I couldn't spare a dime
Did I stop someone from driving, when I knew they shouldn't drive
in case I didn't get the chance, to share this road with you
When I'm gone, I'll be happy, with things I chose to do
You see I've travelled down some highways, and I've seen a lot of things
And I've learned a lot of lessons, and I felt a lot of pain
But I never gave up hoping, that there's something better there
And I know that there's a reason, why so many people care
The consequence of life, is right around the bend
You'll never see it coming, it blows in like the wind
And when my time is up, I can die with no regrets
And the consequence of life, won't affect my happiness
You can smile as I move on, to the place that is unknown
